Bald Eagle Ride 42 Prince George High School Prince George Co. This is an old club favorite that explores rural Prince George County. It is sometimes called the Brandon Loop ride because it travels on the lightly traveled roads past several James River plantations. Bald eagles are occasionally seen on the Brandon loop. Other highlights of the ride are the Burrowsville Rosenwald School site and the Upper Brandon Church with its two Tiffany stained glass windows. Center Cross Ride 48 Walkerton Boat Landing King and Queen Co. This route is a loop from the small town of Walkerton on the Mattaponi River to the Center Cross area on Route 17 and then back to Walkerton. Most of the route is in King & Queen County, although a portion of the route travels through Essex County on the return. Much, but not all, of the route is extremely rural with cars few and far between. The first half of the route is relatively flat with a few hills. The second half of the route has quite a few, mostly modest, hills. Other than Walkerton and Center Cross, there are no commercial facilities anywhere on the route. Hanover Town - Long 38 38 Hanover Courthouse King William Co. This route is a 38 mile loop ride from the Hanover Government Center (often called the "Hanover Courthouse"). As with many of the Hanover Courthouse routes, this route includes a climb up Bleak Hill. The route is named for Hanovertown, the site of Hanover's first major settlement (1676). Cornwallis burned warehouses and destroyed military supplies at Hanovertown in 1781. The settlement was still in existence in 1864, when the Army of the Potomac passed through on the way to Cold Harbor. However, only a monument on River Road remains now to mark the existence of Hanovertown. Although not listed on the cue sheet, there is an optional storestop at the Studley Store at mile 27.5. Morattico Options 32, 36, 43 Lancaster High School Lancaster Co. This ride starts and ends at Lancaster High School, which is about 1.5 hours from the Richmond airport.

There are three distance option- short (32 miles), medium (36) and long (43).

Highlights of all three options include a ride through the fishing village of Morattico and a visit to Belle Isle State Park on the banks of the Rappahannock River (not to be confused with the "Belle Isle" in Richmond). While in Morattico, don't miss a visit to the Morattico Waterfront Museum if it is open. Also, the covered shelter overlooking the Rappahannock River is a great place for a rest stop in Belle Isle State Park. The park also has very nice rest rooms.

The medium and long return options also include a ride on the Merry Point Ferry. The ferry leaves from the end of Ottoman Ferry Road. When you first turn on Ottoman Ferry Road, check the sign on the right that provides the ferry hours. If you miss the ferry, don't panic. You can get back to the ride start by backtracking on River Road (Rte 354) to White Chapel Road (Rte 201) and then taking White Chapel Road back to Route 3 . At Route 3, turn right to head back to the ride start at the high school. Keep in mind that the detour around the ferry adds about 5 miles to the ride.

Perennial Pickle 38 Hanover Courthouse King William Co. This route follows the Route 301 coordinator north into central Caroline county, then crosses over into King William county and then back into Hanover for the return to the Hanover Courthouse. The route is somewhat unusual in that it is one of the few RABA routes that includes roads between Route 301 and I-95. Most of the route is quite rural with light traffic, although the route includes a few miles on Route 301, two crossings of Route 301 and two crossings of Route 30 (be careful!). Once you get north of Frog Level, the only store on the route is the 600 Market on the return around mile 25. The route name comes from the name of a specialty flower company (daylilies) located on Burruss Road around mile 12. However, the business is not readily visible from the road. Rock Creek Crescent 34 Roosevelt Island Memorial District of Columbia From the parking lot of the Teddy Roosevelt Memorial, ride over to catch a glimpse of the WW II Memorial, then up Rock Creek Park to the National Zoo, then on up Beach Road to the top of Rock Creek Park. Twin River Roads Ride - Via Smokey 44 Hanover Courthouse King William Co. This route follows the Route 301 coordinator north into central Caroline County, then crosses over into King William County and then back into Hanover for the return to the Hanover Courthouse. The route name is based on the fact that the route includes portions of two different "River Roads." One is King William and one in Hanover. Most of the route is quite rural with light traffic, although the route includes a few miles on Route 301 and two crossings of Route 30 (be careful!). There is a steep hill on Smokey but, thankfully, it is not very long. Once you pass the 600 Market around mile 11, there are no more stores for the remainder of the route. So, carry plenty of water. Note: There are two Urbanna Crab Cake Routes -a northern route and a southern route. This cue sheet is for the southern route. Although the total mileage is close to the same for both routes, the southern route stays closer to the river and avoids most of Route 14 ("The Trail"). Consequently, the southern route generally encounters a little less traffic. The southern route also avoids a couple of big hills on Route 14. Yarnell Zig Zag 29 Portabella Restaurant Henrico Co. This route is a loop ride from Portabella's (in the Varina Food Lion Shopping Center). As with most of the Varina routes, this route is fairly flat with mostly smooth pavement. Although there are no store stops listed on the cue sheet, there are restrooms available in Dorey Park. Also, if anyone needs an emergency food or water stop, there is a market on Darbytown less than a quarter mile beyond the left turn from Darbytown onto Monahan (if you go to the market, you will have to make a u-turn to get back on the route).
