What: Concussion 101
When: Tuesday, February 26, 6 PM
Where: Libbie Mill Library Conference Room, 1st Floor
2100 Libbie Lake E St, Richmond, VA 23230
**Parking lot and spaces open to the public**
Details: Our guest speaker will be Anne McDonnell, Executive Director of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV.net). BIAV has been one of the charity partners of the club’s big fall cycling fundraising event, Heart of Virginia (the RABA Foundation’s Bikes for Kids charity program is the other), for the past few years. If you have ridden the event, BIAV helps with manning the rest stops on all the routes!
Learn about the dark side of bicycling – concussions – its effects on the brain after injury, what you can do and what BIAV does to support brain-injury survivors and those who care for survivors.
This is why wearing helmets are so important -and- also why helmets are often not enough protection of the brain! As much as we love to pedal, there are risks every time we ride.
There will be some light refreshments served as the library does allow for some food and non-alcoholic drinks to be served.
Registration link: To get a headcount to help BIAV be prepared with enough materials, please register by Monday, February 25, at https://www.viethconsulting.com/members/evr/reg_event.php?orgcode=RABA&evid=20641703
