- Rails-to-Trails Conservancy—“Creating a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors to build healthier places for healthier people.”
- Commonwealth Transportation Board—The CTB allocates highway funding to specific projects, locates routes and provides funding for airports, seaports and public transportation.
- Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals—A professional membership organization that promotes excellence in the emerging professional discipline of pedestrian and bicycle transportation.
- Bikes Belong—A national coalition of bicycle suppliers and retailers working together to put more people on bicycles more often.
- National Center for Bicycling & Walking—“Our mission is to create bicycle-friendly and walkable communities.”
- Alliance for Biking and Walking—A national coalition of state and local bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organizations working in unison to break down the barriers to safe bicycling and walking in North American communities.
- RATS–Richmond Area Tandem Society– The local tandem group has been around for years, and has about 30 tandem-teams that organize (pretty informally), but keeps track of everything tandem in the area. - VDOT 2008 Bike Count locations—Counts were conducted in spring and summer of 2008. Video was also captured during the counts.
- VDOT Bike Map—Published in November, 2006, it is a generalized map of major routes in the state. Free copies are available from VDOT. The paper map can be ordered or
download side 1 or side 2. - VDOT Bike Policy (pdf) —Commits VDOT to routinely accommodate bicycling and walking as fundamental travel modes
